Booking an Appointment


How to make an appointment

 

Dr's Appointments are bookable 2 weeks in advance and are generally of 10 minutes duration. Nurse Appointments are bookable 3 months in advance and are generally of 15 minutes duration.

 

You have the right to express a preference of practitioner.

 

Requests for appointments can be made in person, by during the following times:

 

8:00am to 6.30pm Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday


You can aslo  book/cancel your appointments online through Patient Access. If you have an account please click on the button below.

 

 

Appointments will be offered as follows: -

  • In an emergency as soon as possible
  • Urgent Consultation within 24 hours
  • Non- urgent within 48 hours

It is your responsibility to attend punctually, to observe one appointment one patient rule, to cancel any unwanted appointments and not to request urgent appointments for routine matters. Please note we operate a Did Not Attend policy - if you fail to attend a booked appointment on 3 occasions without cancellation you could be removed from the practice list (please ask a receptionist for details of the policy).

 

You can ring the designated appointment cancellation line between 1pm and 6.30pm.

What do I do in an emergency

 

If you need urgent medical advice during surgery hours, please phone the surgery - 336700 Please be prepared to give some information to the receptionist.

 

Role of reception

 

Our receptionists are usually the first point of contact and are here to help you. They have a lot of information to hand and in most cases will be able to help with your enquiry, ensuring you see the most appropriate clinician. Nonetheless, it is your right to request to talk only to the doctor. Anything that is discussed with the receptionists or any other member of the team is treated in strict confidence. You have a right to be treated courteously, our receptionists also have a right to be treated courteously by you. Please respect the privacy of other patients by standing well back from the reception desk until it is your turn.

 

Why might it be difficult to get an appointment

 

The surgery is particularly busy on Mondays and Fridays especially during the winter months. If your appointment is not urgent, try to book on a less busy day after 10.30am.

 

Please let us know as soon as possible if you can't attend your appointment, we can then make it available for another patient.

 

If we can’t offer you an immediate appointment, we may phone back to offer you a cancellation slot.

 

On average we are having in excess of 100 patients a month who are failing to attend or cancel their appointment. How to get travel vaccinations

 

For routine protection against Tetanus and Polio please make appointments with the practice nurse. We offer a full range of vaccinations for foreign travel. For all advice and information regarding foreign travel please make an appointment with the practice nurse 4-6 weeks before departure so that immunisation can be completed. Please note that not all travel vaccinations are free of charge.

 

How to get a health checkup

 

Health checks are available for the over 75's who have not had a consultation in the past year and for those patients whom have not been seen by a GP for over 3 years. Please call reception to arrange an appointment.

 

New patients are offered a health check appointment on registering with the practice.
